Position Details: 

Crescent Academy is currently hiring a School Turnaround Principal for the 2018-2019 school year.

Primary Function: To increase student achievement by use of teacher observations, feedback, intervention, training, and data.

Reports To:  School Superintendent

Term of Employment 12 Months

Responsibilities:

  • Supports School through the Turnaround model (High Priority School Reform Plan).
  • Use data to assess school support needs.  Select, lead and deploy Rapid Response Teams (Data Systems, Instructional, and Curriculum and Achievement Gap).
  • Provide strategic teacher coaching to raise student achievement for all students and to ensure the use of effective continuous improvement planning and implementation process.
  • Coordinate and lead implementation of school supports, including analyzing progress, identifying service gaps in school needs and recommendations for improvement.
  • Use technology in new and creative ways (including electronic mails, essential user applications, web-based resources and data entry, and other venues) to increase communication.
  • Collaborates with School Leadership Team to establish and monitor high standards for excellence with students, teachers, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Consults with school leadership using data to prioritize school improvement interventions and align resources to achieve maximum results on a quarterly basis.
  • Identifies qualitative and quantitative data to assess performance and drive goals and decision-making.
  • Engages staff in decision-making that impacts student success
  • Participates in team-based process to create positive conditions for learning and student success.
  • Identifies potential issues and obstacles and proactively takes action to implement solutions
  • Collaborates with School Leadership Team to establish effective school staff teams to address students’ behavioral, academic, and emotional issues and facilitates team meetings along with the school directors
  • Performs additional duties as signed by the Superintendent.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to assists in the collecting and reporting of data to evaluate the Turnaround intervention.
  • Ability to create a plan for implementing the strategies and assign responsibilities for implementing the runaround plan.
  • Ability to create a set of measures to monitor to ensure the turnaround plan is being implemented and that it is working.
  • Ability to weed out unnecessary work by focusing on the time on task, curriculum scope, sequence and schedule
  • Ability to set clear and high expectations to all teachings to improve achievement levels for all students
  • Able to implement Staff Training

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree Required
  • 5+ years of experience working with School Improvement process
  • 5+ years of teaching experience
  • Demonstrated success working in non-traditional and/or urban school settings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with educational technology (projector, ELMO, student laptops, etc.)
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally
