Instructor and Instructional Aide - multiple positions

 

Reports to:            Building Principal

Dates:                    July 24-August 16, Tuesday-Thursday

Hours:                    8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Salary:                   As per CEA Contract for Instructor in district

                                As per CSSA Contract for Instructional Aide in district

*Staffing depending upon student enrollment in Elementary Summer School Program.

*Class (es) may be cancelled if enrollment is too low.*Add’l planning or training hours may be

  added.

 

Summary:  This position’s responsibility will include the monitoring of students in multiple subject areas while using various programs for K-6 grade students.

Qualifications

Instructor:

  • Possess a valid Michigan School Teaching Certificate and degree from an accredited college or university for instructors; Associate’s degree preferred, must meet No Child Left Behind requirements for instructional aides.
  • Successful teaching/instructional aide experience at the elementary level with successful summer program, preferred; familiarity with literacy interventions experience, other web-based programming experience is preferred.
  • Prescriptive center-based learning experience in reading, math, science, social studies, informational text, and technology is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a professional rapport with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Instructional Aide:

  • Associate’s degree or two years of academic study at a postsecondary institution, preferred, or minimum of high school diploma with ability to meet highly qualified No Child Left Behind Paraprofessional requirement (i.e. Successful Work Keys Test), required.
  • Clear criminal history check, required.
  • Ability to develop/maintain a professional rapport with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Requirements:

  • Provide monitoring of students ensuring adherence to the district AUP and reporting infractions to the network administrator.
  • Performs daily operations of the school media center along with operating media center equipment including daily circulation using Destiny software.
  • Carry out classroom management procedures within district/building guidelines.
  • Execute duties with awareness to all district requirements and board of education policies.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, talking, seeing, and hearing.  Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes of books. 
  • Performs other functions and duties as assigned.
