Position:       Business Teacher (80%) & Project Lead the Way Teacher (20%)

                        GQ endorsement & Vocational Certification (VB, VM), required

Location:      Ferndale High School

Grades:          9-12    

Reports to:   Building Principal 

Pay Rate:      According to the Ferndale Education Association Master Agreement

Start Date:    January 21, 2019

  • Must be “highly qualified” under the No Child Left Behind Act
  • Valid Michigan teaching certification with appropriate endorsements
  • Certification in other areas highly desirable
  • Proven classroom management and organizational skills,
  • Background working in a diverse community
  • Understanding of culturally responsive teaching practices

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build a culture of achievement through culturally responsive teaching practices, relationship skills, and understanding of school culture and rigor
  • Provide leadership and innovation in maintenance of current vocational programs, as well as in the expansion of additional vocational programs
  • Build a classroom environment that supports all students through whole group, small group and one on one instruction
  • Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
  • Ability to use data to support student learning and motivation
  • Work closely with district CTE coordinator
  • Continue to build connections with local businesses to support the districts increasing focus on partnerships in support of students careers and life’s passions
  • Be passionate about building and strengthening a CTE program that supports students career pathways
  • Complete CIP Self-Reviews annually in MCCTE Navigator
  • Start up and operate school store
