Position Details: 

Primary Responsibility:

Manages designated human resources functions.  Works as a member of the four person human resources team (Director, Administrative Assistant, and Office Professional) in HR tasks related to planning, research, reporting, and serving MPS employees.

 

Salary/Benefit Information:

$50,340 - $59,224

Educational and Work Experience:

At least three years of experience in human resources or related field.  Human resource related experiences preferred. Bachelor degree in human resources or three years of relevant experience is required. SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred. If not certified, must be willing to obtain within 1 year of hire.       

 

Other Qualifications:

  • An ability and desire to assume managerial responsibilities, evidence of leadership and flexibility in previous employment.
  • Full functional knowledge of all HR Generalist responsibilities including, New Hire Orientation, FLSA, ADA, and labor relations.
  • An ability to establish and maintain good working and supervisory relations with staff and to maintain in strictest confidence personal information regarding employees and clients.
  • Experience with Training and Development tracking and planning.
  • Decision-making skills, good judgment, ability to work as a contributing member of a management team, patience, flexibility, accuracy, service orientation, ability to prioritize and work under the pressure of multiple timelines.
  • Understanding of the mission and purpose of public education and the Midland Public Schools.
  • Knowledge of computers and office software applications necessary (experience with Google Suite products, HRIS, and Web Applications are desirable).
  • Understanding of labor laws, state and federal regulations, and state licensing requirements as they relate to the scope of public education.
  • Experience with state and/or federal reporting is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of unemployment claims and procedures, workers compensation, employee assistance, contract administration, personnel budgeting, coordinate FMLA with other employee benefits.
