POSITION: High School Guidance Counselor

 

LOCATION: High School

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s Degree in Counseling, with a Valid Guidance and Counseling Endorsement (NT)

2. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate

3. Experience in standardized testing

4. Working knowledge of curriculum and teaching and instruction 

5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

1. Experience in Special Education and Section 504 regulations

2. Experience in dealing with students with special needs

3. Experience in High School Counseling 

4. Knowledge of Personal Curriculum and Michigan Merit Curriculum regulations

5. Able to use technology in an efficient manner

6. Excellent organizational skills

7. Knowledge of MTSS and PBIS to support student needs. 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide personal student guidance counseling

2. Conduct group and individual meetings to assist students

3. Coordinate and facilitate parent, student, and staff meetings

4. Coordinate standardized testing

5. Work with students and staff to develop educational plans

6. Communicate with parents and community members

7. Uphold confidentiality in all situations 

8. Perform other duties as assigned

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1.  Salary/benefits per Master Agreement between Portland Education Association and the Board of Education

2.  Must have fingerprints scanned electronically and submitted to Michigan State Police prior to hire.
