Three Rivers Community Schools is seeking a dynamic and experienced High School Assistant Principal with an unwavering commitment to high standards of excellence. The Assistant Principal will further the mission of Three Rivers High School by bringing expertise and focus to teaching and learning, discipline, and professional development.


Job Requirements & Responsibilities:

The candidate selected for this position will have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders. The candidate will have demonstrated student-centered leadership and have evidence of innovations and strategies related to the development and sustainment of a positive school climate and culture.



Required Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, or Curriculum & Instruction.  Must possess a Secondary School Administrator’s Certification from the State of Michigan. If candidate possess another states secondary school administrator’s certificate they must be able to transfer it to Michigan.
  2. At least (3-5) three to five years of successful secondary school teaching experience with a teacher performance rating of Effective or Highly Effective.
  3. At least (2) two years of assistant principal experience (or equivalent building leadership), with a performance rating of Effective or Highly Effective.
  4. Demonstrated evidence of strong written and oral communication skills
  5. Technology skills for communication, data analysis, and report writing
  6. Understanding and demonstrated use of PowerSchool student information system (administrative portal). 
  7. Knowledge of or experience with MTSS, positive school climate and restorative practices.
  8. Ability to analyze data for the purpose of continual improvement. 



Preferred Qualifications:


  1. Experience using one of the following teacher evaluation frameworks: Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching, Thoughtful Classroom, Marzano’s Teacher Evaluation & Focused Evaluation Models, or 5 Dimensions of Teaching and Learning.
  2. Current knowledge of theory and practice in special education programming, including inclusion, discipline, IEP development and implementation, and IDEA Reauthorization.
  3. Current knowledge of alternatives to suspension. 
  4. Knowledge and experience with the development and implementation of MTSS and Positive School Climate. 


Essential Functions:

  1. Works closely with building principal to implement the educational philosophy of the school. 
  2. Oversees and assists with student discipline in consultation with behavioral interventionists.
  3. Leads disciplinary processes and procedures for students with IEPs. 
  4. Leads attendance processes in procedures in accordance with county and state guidelines. 
  5. Monitors and reviews student discipline and attendance data with behavioral interventionists, teachers, building principal and relevant stakeholders. 
  6. Assists building principal in coordination of professional development for teaching and support staff.
  7. Advocates for the students, staff, school, district and public education (e.g. responsive to parents and community, creates a welcoming climate and culture, markets school programs, promotes and emphasizes support for parental involvement)for the purpose of encouraging and promoting community involvement and outreach.
  8. Evaluates assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved, compliance with job descriptions is obtained, and performance is maximized.
  9. Facilitates communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
  10. Attends extracurricular activities (athletic and academic) for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations.  
  11. Performs other tasks as assigned by the building principal.
