SUMMARY:

MARESA is looking for a dynamic leader willing to invest in the financial infrastructure and human capital of the Agency. This leader will set and maintain high standards and establish a positive work atmosphere for their service area team to create successful day-to-day operations. This individual will provide leadership and motivation to ensure that all staff are team and agency focused. The Associate Superintendent will serve as the administrator and supervisor of the essential functions within the Service Area of Finance, Facilities, and Information Systems, and as a central member of the MARESA Leadership Team.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS:

  • Master’s Degree, or demonstrated willingness to obtain a Master’s Degree, in educational administration, business administration, public administration or accounting or completion of  the MASA Horizons Leadership Academy two year-program to obtain an  Administrator Certificate
  • Hold or be willing to obtain certification as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO)
  • Five years successful experience in educational administration, business administration, or accounting, including supervision of staff
  • Demonstrated systems-thinking skills/applications in collaborative processes
  • Positive leader with effective written/oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards and experience auditing or supervising all phases of a very detailed computerized accounting system
  • Current knowledge of Revised Bulletin 1022 and tax, governmental, and legislative issues affecting education
  • Prior experience managing facilities and information technology functions
  • Working knowledge of Special Education regulations and financial implications
  • Coursework and experience in the area of information systems
  • Experience in the measurement and analysis of desired outcome factors as it would relate to a quality assurance function
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in decision-making, long-range planning and problem-solving situations, as well as being part of an administrative leadership team
  • Positive leader with effective written/oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated systems-thinking skills/applications in collaborative processes
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (see full position description for additional details):

The Associate Superintendent of Finance, Facilities, and Information Systems must promote and demonstrate the culture of the Agency, and be willing/able to travel to local school districts and conferences/state functions in the Lower Peninsula.

The Associate Superintendent will be responsible for the administration of:

  • All financial affairs of the Agency
  • Maintaining information/database management systems that are up-to-date
  • Data coordination between local districts and the State Department of Education for both mandatory and needs-driven data
  • Staff supervision and development, including employee evaluation
  • Planning and progress of all renovations, alterations, and construction of district facilities
  • Oversight of all facility and site requirements of the Agency, including lease agreements, custodial services, security, building maintenance, legal requirement policies, etc.
  • Accounting services for local school districts/additional entities
  • Information technology and social media functions
  • Agency-wide transition from paper records/documentation to digital format for archiving and retrieval
  • Acquisition of grant funding for Agency programs
  • The Quality Assurance Program for the Agency

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time – Preferred start date: January 20, 2020

REPORTS TO:                       Superintendent

SALARY:                                Negotiable commensurate with qualifications and experience; Compensation includes full benefits package.
