REPORTS TO:    Superintendent

Hillman Community Schools is a small public school with small classes in a professional atmosphere, where integrity is valued and creating a family atmosphere is important.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

            Required:

  • Master’s degree or higher in school administration.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan administrator certificate.
  • At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
  • Experience in building and/or district leadership positions.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan teacher certificate.

            Preferred:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of secondary school administrative experience preferred as a high school principal.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks.
  • Demonstrates effective management, supervisory, executive, and curricular skills, and the ability to relate with staff, students, parents, and community.
  • Make use of achievement data to provide leadership in curriculum development and best instructional practices.
  • Demonstrates successful experience in providing leadership to school improvement and best instructional practices.
  • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the use of technology both in the classroom and as a means for improving the overall effectiveness of the organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer, manage, and supervise the operation of the school in compliance with the Board of Education policies and the direction of the Superintendent.
  • Establish a culture of high expectations for both academics and behavior.
  • Embrace diversity and understand how to engage all stakeholders in the school communities.
  • Commit to high visibility and daily communication with all stakeholders using various forms of communication.
  • Model and display high expectations.
  • Evaluate performance and effectiveness of programs and staff.
